Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a restful holiday and enjoyed time with family and friends. In college I had fond memories of coming back to an empty campus before the start of the semester to prepare for our season. I did not always enjoy the two a day workouts but I did enjoy time spent with my teammates and other athletes. Athletics at Mercy was in full swing over the break with practices for all teams and Basketball competing in the Green Machine Tournament. The tournament was a great success with the team finishing 2-1 and spending a lot of quality time on and off the court, including a trip to the bowling alley. The Cheer team a spent a lot of time on the mats but also took some time toasting the New Year with a team lunch at In and Out Burger. complete with Martinelli's Sparkling Cider. I understand the sacrifice athletes and their families make over the holiday break with mandatory practices and competitions and I appreciate their commitment to our programs. I am also grateful to our coaching staff working over the break preparing our teams for competition but also taking time to enjoy time spent together. I look forward to a new year filled with new heights with Mercy Athletics.
