It was another busy week for Mercy Athletics. Tuesday was a great success with all teams in action sweeping the competition. On Thursday our athletes were in a wash, rinse, repeat cycle as they put on their jerseys and laced up their sneakers. I saw a few teachers out to support this week and after yesterday's game I sent a thank you to one. She replied, “Of course, I love watching our kids in THEIR element.” As I was driving home those words really resonated with me. I feel very fortunate in my position. I see a whole other side of our athletes that our teachers don’t often see. When I walk out to the pool deck I see our water polo team egg beater in the deep end with Tiny Dancer blaring out of the stereo. All of the sudden practice turned into team singing along. Who knew the Water Polo team were Elton John fans? Yesterday the volleyball teams celebrated a birthday and victory with cupcakes. Each week I share these moments with our coaches, athletes, and community. I will try to capture these moments, Mercy moments and with you all. I truly believe I have the best job on campus, nothing makes me happier than game days and supporting our athletes.
