On Tuesday Volleyball hosted our first ever Blue Out of the year against Notre Dame Belmont and put the unity in community. All three of our teams donned their brand new warm up shirts thanks to a generous donation from Michael Seil, son of alumna Gerry Barry Seil '39 (RIP). Michael lives in Irvine and follows along with Mercy sports. Last year he followed our Varsity Volleyball team's success through the CCS and CIF playoffs! In honor of our championship, he donated specifically to the volleyball program. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Seil! Our freshmen team continues to shine winning in straight sets and setting the tone for the afternoon. Our Junior Varsity team turned up the excitement winning in three sets. The Varsity game was one of the most exciting games I have been a part of in my career here at Mercy. There was tension on every point and while it seemed as if Mercy was in control the Tigers always seemed to keep it close. After Mercy won the first two sets many fans began to disperse, not on our side. Our fans stayed all the way through until the end. Notre Dame took the third set and kept it exciting in the 4th. Both sides were exchanging blows all the way through that final set with Mercy winning 30-28. After the game teams celebrated with their friends, family, and the many faculty and staff from our community. These nights embody all of the best parts about interscholastic sport participation but the most important on that night was community representation. Thank you all for your support!
