When the calendar turns to October we begin a month of events and celebrations in our athletics community from senior games, to Dig Pink, Sister Splash, Pink Week, and Playoffs. Coming out of the pandemic there is an extra importance on celebrating these moments. Our annual Dig Pink Volleyball game is one of those moments.
On Tuesday, we hosted our annual Dig Pink Volleyball Game at Serra High School. This event could not be possible without our entire Mercy community. The Girls Athletic Association Leadership team decked the gym out in a sea of pink from the lawn signs on one end to the balloon arch on the opposite. Parents in the volleyball program donated and operated the snack bar. Mercy faculty and staff volunteered for various positions including at the check in and merchandise tables. Our Spirit Squad, which is made up of our cheer and dance teams as well as the Tri-School band, were able to jump on the court during timeouts and in between sets. Prior to the varsity game, we hosted a small program to honor those in our community who have suffered from cancer and give thanks to all those who made the event possible.
Each year this event shows me how incredible our community is and reminds me how lucky we are to have each other.
