One of the best parts of my job is seeing our athletes compete at the next level. I love watching them succeed in our Mercy blues but it is just a rewarding feeling when they take the step to the next level. Over the next few months we will be shinning a spotlight on our athletes who are competing at the intercollegiate level. Haylee Klingler '20 was a standout athlete while at Mercy. She competed in volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse and earned All League Honors in both sports. She is currently thriving on the pitch at Skyline College.
"This is my second year playing soccer at Skyline and I couldn’t think of one way it could go any better. We are 10-0-2 and remain undefeated with only 6 games left of the season. My favorite part is going to practice every day and being able to play with my cousin and two childhood best friends. Soccer at Skyline is more than just a sport, it’s a family. Two years ago the program was nonexistent and we are now currently ranked #17 in the state and rising every week. Last year I was given the amazing opportunity to be the assistant soccer coach at Mercy. It’s crazy how I played all four years at Mercy with Ricardo as my coach and now I get to work along side him. What I love most about coaching is watching the girls grow their confidence on the field and getting to coach my younger sister, Sierra. I enjoyed every second of it and all of the memories that came with it. I cant wait for year two to see what it brings."
