It has been an incredible journey for our Cross Country team this fall. Our team has ventured far and wide, exploring new courses and training routes. They kicked off the competitive season with races in North Monterey, Salinas, Baylands, and Crystal Springs. They pounded the pavement and the trails through countless laps on our beautiful campus, Seal Point Park in San Mateo, and Waterdog Lake in Belmont. The highlight of training came when the team traveled to Yosemite National Park for training and bonding. They ran on the shore of Tenaya Lake and on the trail. This is no easy feat as Tenaya Lake is at 8100 feet. Last Friday the team competed in the WBAL Finals at the very challenging Crystal Springs Course in Belmont. The Bears had not raced in over 3 weeks because of the cancellation of the WBAL 2 meet due to heat. There was no rust to be found as this young group of determined Bears all had a strong finish to the season. Once again running short handed everyone ran in the Varsity race, a big step up for a couple of our Freshman. The entire team answered the bell with 2 of our girls running Season Bests(SB) and the other 5 all posting Personal Records(PR). The team was lead by Yasbella Matsumoto '25 and Guadalupe Sanchez '27 running 26:36.3(SB) and 2:36.9(PR) They ran almost stride for stride the entire race. Isabella Webb '26, 27:39.5 (SB), Dalilah Sanchez '25, 27:54.3 (PR) and Lesly Sanchez Delgado '27 28:38.9 (PR) rounded out the scoring 5. Alexandria Hart '27 and Kara Killeen '27 both ran PR ‘s clocking in at 30:56.7 and 32:50.8 A great way to end the season, smiles for miles.
