Last year, our cheerleader, Priya Sciacero '23, proudly showcased her skills on the sidelines and the competition floor, standing tall on our pyramids. Throughout her four years at Mercy, she dedicated herself to the Cheer team, culminating in her role as captain during her senior year. During her time at Mercy she received numerous accolades most recently earning Senior Spirit Athlete of the Year.
This year marks a new chapter as she takes her passion to the sidelines of San Diego State Football and Basketball games, and most recently on the mat at UCA College Nationals.
"I just completed an unforgettable first season with San Diego State cheer. We ended the season at the UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida. I competed as a top girl on our COED team and made history for our program by placing fourth in the nation. Every team has their setbacks and while we had many, never once did I have any doubt in our ability to execute our goal of putting the best routine possible out on that nationals floor. Cheering for a D1 school was a dream. With a lot of hard work and the help of past coaches, my parents, and Mercy faculty my dream became a reality. I am so grateful I landed at SDSU. My coaches and teammates have become my family here in San Diego just how Mercy is my family back in Burlingame. Go Aztecs and Bears!!."
