Last Saturday the Mercy Track & Field team traveled down to Gilroy High School to compete in the 51st Avis Kelly Invitational. This meet was a large Varsity meet which was a step up for many of our athletes. Despite the soggy conditions and tough competition the girls earned 3 Medals and posted 1 School Record, 15 Personal Records and 5 Season Bests.
Sydney Domingo '26 won two medals finishing 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a new PR and School Record time of 15.49 and 6th in the 100m with a new PR time of 13.47. Sydney’s time in the 100mh currently has her ranked 6th in the CCS. Our other medal was won by Susie Guz '27, placing 5th in the 400m clocking in with a PR time of 1:05.76.
Juls Formolo '27 ran PR’s in both the 400m, 1:11.42 & 200m, 31.22. Posting a PR is an outstanding accomplishment but there were two that really stood out on Saturday. Dulce Martinez '27 threw 20’ 11.5” in the Shot Put a 2’ 1/2” PR and Natalie Padilla '26 threw 73’ 10” in the Discus, an 8’ PR. In the 800m Ysabella Matsumoto '25, and Isabella Webb '26 both had season bests while Christina Crespo '26 and Lesly Delgado Sanchez '27 had PR's in the same race. In Long Jump Dalilah Sanchez '25 had a Season Best with an 11'11". In the Shot Put Emma Murphy '26, Dulce Martinez '27 and Tianna Kruse '26 all had PR's and in the Discus Natalie Padilla 26 and Emma Murphy '26 had a SB and a PR.
Another great week filled with improvement and invaluable experience.
